It begins with three men, each fondly but separately reminiscing of a past love with an unnamed woman (Piper). There’s Benjamin (Skarsgård), who tells the story of his childhood love and the regrets of adolescent frivolity. Adam (Tennant), who composes a tale of callow romance and extravagance. And Nathan (Smith), who simply met the woman of his dreams and fell in love. Woven between flashbacks are glimpses of the narrator as she moves from each relationship to the next. Her view of the years that pass by, the thoughts that cross her mind and ultimately, who of the men she truly loved.
